See the Sanibel Causeway & Explore San Carlos Bay
Spend a relaxing afternoon or evening on the water aboard Old Glory and discover the beauty of San Carlos Bay.
Depart Salty Sam's Marina and head out Matanzas Pass where we'll enter the channel and hoist the sails.
A relaxing cruise will take us across picturesque San Carlos Bay and have us approaching the three fixed-span bridges linking Sanibel Island with the mainland at Punta Rassa.
The bay connects to Pine Island Sound to the west and Matlacha Pass to the north, with the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River flowing into the bay from the east. It's a great spot to look for dolpins.
Nearby Bunche Beach and the San Carlos Bay / Bunche Beach Preserve also make a wonderful destination for a private sailing cruise (4-8 hours in duration) where we can pull up close to the sandy white beach and drop our anchor. Jump off the boat and swim/wade ashore to enjoy upspoiled "Old Florida" at its finest. The beach here is usually all but deserted.
Because the bay is mostly sheltered water (except from the south and southwest), this tour is a peaceful, smooth-sailing alternative to our other tour options that involve heading into the Gulf of Mexico, which can get a little rough when wind/waves are high.
